The Brit who took a picture with plane hijacker in potential suicide vest has been hotly tipped for this years Pride of Britain award.
Ben Innes, 26, was one of three passengers and four crew held to the end of a hostage siege earlier this week, after Seif Eldin Mustafa hijacked the EgyptAir flight bound for Cairo from Alexandria and forced it to be redirected to Cyprus.
A researcher for the Pride of Britain Awards told BFNN, “We thought it was the weed we were smoking. No, seriously. How can a single picture represent an event so stoic, so British and so 2016?
“Firemen – balls. Cancer survivors – balls. Ebola nurses – loads of balls. Man who asks a guy in a possible suicide vest who has hijacked a plane for a picture – oh you better believe that man has got balls. And in a way that’s really what PoB is about.”
Richard from Solihull supported the idea, “They call Britain ‘Great Britain’ for a reason, this man is putting ‘Great’ back into Britain, Great Britain.”
The planes hijacker Seif Eldin Mustafa has spoke out since the incident saying he has been ‘inundated’ with requests for pictures since the incident. There are also rumours online that the is-he isn’t-he terrorist will be a contestant in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Bookies favourites for the next instalment of the awards also include the ‘Chicken Madras Woman’ from the JustEat adverts.
